5 Ways to Get Your House Clean!

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014

1. Hire someone or a service to come in for regular visits. Can’t afford that? Hire them to come in for a one time deep clean and then maintain that.

2. Ask for help from a family member/friend. For those of you that have family or friends close by and know they have a knack for cleaning, this could be a great gift to ask for.

3. Barter with a friend/family member. When I was writing my book, I needed someone to proofread it. So I asked a friend if she could do it in exchange for me helping her with something. She said sure. So one afternoon as she sat reading my book as I helped her organize her children’s bedrooms.

4. Offer an additional allowance incentive to your children. Ask your children if they want to make some additional allowance. Most kids love the opportunity to make some money. Just make sure the jobs are age appropriate.

5. Do it yourself! This is the cheapest and best approach for having it done your way. But hate to clean? Overwhelmed? Then do at least 1 thing on your cleaning list a day. You will notice a difference in no time at all!

Tackle any of these and it will make you feel better and your house show better.

  1. Linens.  If they’re torn or shredding, time to trash.
  2. Shoes.  Let them go if they are too small, too painful or just too “what was I thinking?”
  3. Tupperware. They will never get organized if you keep throwing them in the cabinet.
  4. Games. As your children grow the games they play change.  This is a great one to pass on to someone else.
  5. Sweaters. Assess the ones you wear versus the ones that your never do.
  6. CD’s and DVD’s. I had a friend give a donation of all her VHS tapes to a non-profit organization. It was a benefit all around!
  7. Jewelry. Classic never goes out of style.  It’s the “today’s fashion” that you have to be honest about.
  8. Coats.  It’s worth going through it at least once a year.
  9. Handbags.  Not your style anymore?  Donate. Sell. Exchange. Give away…and the list goes on.
  10. Decorations. Some of us have a room full and some of us have a box full. Either way, know what you have so you can enjoy it when the holiday is here. (more…)

Monday, July 2nd, 2012

When you property is for sale it is important that people see your countertops,
whether they are in the kitchen, bathroom or laundry room.

Buyers want to see at how much space your countertops offer.
Too much on a countertop and the buyer won’t even remember
what color it was, let alone the size and space it offers.
