And the Finger Points to…..Handprints!

Tuesday, September 1st, 2015

This week’s to do – Walk around your house with cloth and cleaner in hand.  You are looking for fingerprints.

  • Where are the door trims that everyone touches when they come around the corner?
  • Where is the wall that always gets bumped into?
  • Which doors have been pushed, nudged, knocked or pulled on too many times?

Find where the favorite spots are. It is far better for you to find them and erase the evidence than for a buyer to wonder who the culprit is!

The Space Where Few Go

Wednesday, July 1st, 2015

Check what is up in your attic. Some things up there are for your eyes only. Just know ALL of it must go!

I have seen homes with all sorts of things in the attic. One had a concrete bumper, one had an abandoned oil tank and one had some very personal photos. You just never know!

It Finishes a Room.

Crown molding is a great way to to add a finishing touch to a room.

Already have it? Then check to see if it needs to be caulked or touched up. Still stained dark from the 1980’s? Paint and go lighter.

Better Gone Than Seen!

Wednesday, January 14th, 2015

When it comes to outdated wallpaper or borders on your walls, it is far better to remove them before your showings start.   Kids rooms tend to be the exception as most kids like the same things; but everything else should go.   This a because when buyers look at wallpaper most just see the daunting task of taking it down.  They immediately get concerned about how to take it down, if the wall is going to be damaged and how much the whole process is going to cost them.

Big Difference!

So find a great drywall contractor. Your agent probably has a couple of good names. Then be honest with yourself as to what needs to come down.

Walls that have a strong patterns or designs can be overwhelming to some buyers. Ask your agent what is best to to do before showing your home. Real estate beige is a favorite neutral!

Have A Gutter Check

Sunday, September 1st, 2013

While it is easy to see leaves and debris on your driveway and walkways, it’s hard to see what’s going on in your gutters.  I have gutter guards and I still have a good bit of build-up.  Take a look…

Get them cleaned out.  Not only will it look better, but this debris tends to hold moisture and can cause problems if too much accumulates for too long at your roof’s edge.
